AC SLATER x JOKER x GTRONIC

As you've probably noticed, I've been on a pretty massive dubstep kick lately. Which is awesome because I love sub bass more than life. However as a DJ, the truth is that unless you've got a room full of bass-obsessed people who share the same love for dubstep, you're going to get mixed reactions and a lot of confused faces when dropping certain tracks.

I can't speak for those living overseas of course or probably for those of you out in LA or NY. However, I'm currently located in the dirty South where dubstep is still a very foreign thing - so this post will be focused more on "dancefloor friendly" tracks.

AC Slater remixes are pretty much always a go-to. I have no idea who "The Grand National" are, but this remix is catchy and contains a very low bassline that flows throughout the song. Pretty chill, nothing too crazy but definitely a track I wouldn't think twice about dropping.

More dubstep producers such as Joker have been remixing more popular groups such as Simian Mobile Disco who've just released their 2nd full length Temporary Pleasures. You know you're getting into some funky melodies with a Joker track - I like this one a little more than the rest.

GTRONIC is one of few producers I've been following closely. He definitely has a signature sound and has gotten play and support from acts like The Bloody Beetroots. He's got that raw, straight-to-the-point bass synth that sticks out amongst the sea of weak, half-assed basslines. This song is hard as nails and perfect to drop at the peak of a party to take the intensity to the next level.

CALM DOWN... PART II

Here's a little preview clip of Calm Down part TWO by AC Slater hopefully being released soon by the Trouble & Bass camp. Think of it as a VIP release of the track. If you haven't heard the original yet, check the link below. This tune will be huge!

And below is a free track from B. Rich himself - "a lil tune that didn't make the cut for the new EP. TWITTER EXCLUSIVE!" but you can get it here as well.

TRUMPDISCO

Australian duo Trumpdisco caught my eye during the AC Slater "Hello" remix contest where every bedroom DJ, their mother, their grandmothers, and pets submitted many surprisingly decent as well as blatantly shitty versions. Trumpdisco's take on the remix was personally my favorite.

They've come back with an edit of one of the most highly anticipated tracks right now from Russian producer The Proxy titled "Who Are You?" Keep in mind that it's just an edit, so I'm sure it's not too far off from the original - containing lots of the expected distortion and striking bass hits. However, it's enough to keep me excited while I wait for the original to drop. Check it out below as well as other work by Trumpdisco. Keep on eye on these dudes, I can't wait to see what they come up with in the near future. Show them some love and check out more originals on their MySpace.

STENCHMAN + MORE

"Tonight there are two kinds of darkness in this city. First, there’s that darkness which is merely the absence of light. And then there’s that darkness which is the physical presence- the very manifestation- of the ultimate, Satanic evil. That second and malignant form of darkness feeds upon and cloaks itself in the first and more ordinary kind of darkness, cleverly disguises itself. But it’s out there. Therefore, I don’t wish to have shadows close to me this night, if I can avoid it, for one never knows when an innocent patch of shade might be something more than it appears."

No, that isn't a member of the mask-happy metal band Slipknot, but probably one of the most blatantly fucking evil dubstep artists I've seen to date. Check out his new track "Gutfucker" below which reminds me of the scene from one of the SAW movies where the dude is getting pig guts slammed onto him. RUDE!

[DL] Stenchman - Gutfucker

*BONUS*
[DL] Zombie Nation - Forza (Housemeister Remix)
[DL] AC Slater - Vertigo (Nick Supply Remix)
[DL] Hostage - Special Brew
[DL] Patrick Wolf - Hard Times (Jack Beats Remix)
